Maritime transport faces many difficulties by constantly
falling rates
In general, the operations of the shipping business have
faced many difficulties in the first half of 2016. The main reason is due to
the imbalance, leading to excess vessels stiff competition, and continuous
decline in freight rates.
According to the Vietnam Maritime Administration, in the
first 6 months of 2016, the total output of the transport fleet by Vietnam
implementation is estimated at 54.2 million tonnes, down 4% from the same
period last year and reached 43% of year target 2016 (125 million tonnes).
Business activities of enterprises Vietnam maritime transport remains generally
difficult.
As reported by the Viettelcargo, in the first 6 months of
2016, the revenue from dry cargo fleet decreased by 16%, down 2% container fleet
and tanker fleet came down 20% over the same period last year. At the same
time, production and business efficiency of this sector also fell over the same
period in 2015.
Such constraints were due to the imbalance, excess of vessel
fleet that lead to stiff competition and freight rates was declining
continuously. Chartering rates and time charter flights fell by 30-50% for the
2015. Besides, shipping foot lease in the region and international relatively
thin, low freight rates. In addition, the technical condition of the fleet is
not suitable for extraction in areas requiring high standards or distance
itineraries having good rates.
For inland transport operations, the flag fleet Vietnam has
undertaken nearly 100% of the domestic transport of goods by sea. Particularly
for container ships, after the implementation of the direction of the Ministry
of Transport (MOT) to restrict foreign participation in inland transport, the
number of container ships for Vietnam inland transport combinning in Southeast
Asia has increased by 36 ships.
In the first 6 months of 2016, output of goods through the
port increased rapidly, reaching 4.7 million tons, equivalent to 45% of total
production from the start-line deployment. The goods are transported on the
coastal route mainly coal, slag, stone, earth, metal, fertilizers, cement, ore,
fuel oil
